How it works

A checkout attendees already know.

For international audiences, PayPal gives attendees a way to pay they already use and trust. PayPal is built into Eventtia, so there is nothing to develop.

Setup

Connected in a few steps.

You need an active PayPal business account and access to the PayPal developer dashboard. Full instructions are in the help center.

  1. Step 01

    Create a sandbox app

    In the PayPal developer dashboard, open REST APIs in Sandbox mode and create an app. Copy its Client ID.

  2. Step 02

    Add the sandbox key

    In Eventtia, open the event, then Settings and Advanced Settings. Select PayPal and paste the Client ID in the sandbox key field.

  3. Step 03

    Create the live app

    Switch PayPal to Live mode, create the app again and copy the live Client ID.

  4. Step 04

    Add the production key

    Paste the live Client ID in the production key field in Eventtia and save.

PayPal payment questions.

Do I need my own PayPal account?

Yes. You connect your own PayPal account to your event, and payments go to that account.

Does Eventtia charge a fee on payments?

No. Eventtia charges no fee on payments. PayPal charges its own processing fees, under your contract with PayPal.

Which payment methods can attendees use?

The methods that your PayPal account offers for your country and currency. They depend on your PayPal contract and settings.

How do refunds work?

In-platform refunds are only available with Stripe. With PayPal, you make the refund in your PayPal account and cancel the registration in Eventtia, which updates the attendee record.

Can I use a different PayPal account for each event?

Yes. The payment provider and its credentials are set per event, in the event's advanced settings.

Which currency will attendees pay in?

You set the currency per event. Your PayPal account must accept that currency.
