Aventri (now Stova) vs. Cvent: Key Differences

Both Aventri (now Stova) and Cvent are established enterprise-grade event management software platforms, and we can expect them to offer more or less the same core features and functionality. However, there are some key differences between the two.

Cvent is, in general, a simpler event management solution with a traditional user interface. This makes Cvent a better choice for newer event organizers or businesses that need an event management platform that is easy to use. Compared to Aventri (now Stova), Cvent has a stronger focus on marketing and engagement with various marketing and networking-focused features.

Aventri (now Stova), on the other hand, is a more robust event management platform with a wider range of features and capabilities. This makes Aventri (now Stova) a better choice for larger and/or complex events. Aventri (now Stova) also has a stronger emphasis on reporting and analytics features, making it a better choice for event planners that need to more accurately track the performance or ROI of their events.

Ultimately, choosing between the two would depend on your specific requirements, event goals, and your budget. It’s worth considering that Cvent is less expensive than Aventri (now Stova).

You’ll want to consider the following factors:

  1. If you need a more affordable and user-friendly solution, Cvent is a great choice.
  2. If you need a more comprehensive solution with a richer set of features, then you might want to choose Aventri (now Stova).
  3. How important is your event for your business? Is it okay to spend more?
  4. What type of event are you planning? How big is it?
  5. Do you need specific features or tools only available on Cvent or Aventri (now Stova)?
  6. How much control do you need over the customizability of your event page?
  7. What kind of customer service would you prefer?
  8. How much budget are you willing to spend?

Aventri vs. Cvent: In-Depth Feature Differences

In terms of approach, functionality, and features, Aventri (now Stova) and Cvent also have some distinct differences, namely:

  1. Ease of use/User Experience: both Aventri (now Stova) and Cvent are considered intuitive and easy to use, but Aventri (now Stova) offers a more modern interface with drag-and-drop editing features, while Cvent is more traditional with its left-hand navigation menu. Yet, Because Aventri (now Stova) has a wider range of features, the interface is overall more complex.
  2. Virtual events: Aventri (now Stova) offers a wide range of virtual event features and tools that are not offered by Cvent. This includes a complete virtual event platform, live streaming tools, webinars, and social media engagement tools.
  3. Customization: Aventri (now Stova) offers a higher degree of customization, so event planners have more flexibility in creating a unique event experience that aligns with their brand identity.
  4. Integrations: while both Cvent and Aventri (now Stova) offers seamless integration with a wide range of popular tools, Aventri (now Stova) integrates with more tools and solutions than Cvent, like Adobe Marketing Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle Eloqua, and more.

Aventri vs. Cvent: Integrations

Both Aventri (now Stova) and Cvent offer a strong integration with third-party solutions and tools, but as discussed above, there are some differences between the two event management solutions.

In general, Aventri (now Stova) offers a wider range of integrations than Cvent. Aventri (now Stova) offers native integrations with various tools like marketing, sales, CRM, and virtual event tools. However, while Cvent—at the surface—offers more limited integrations than Aventry, Cven’t integrations are generally more aligned and integrated with Cvent’s own functionality. This means you can more seamlessly and easily transfer data between Cvent and third-party solutions.

Here are some of the third-party integrations offered by Aventri (now Stova) thad doesn’t offered by Cvent:

  • Adobe Marketing Cloud: Aventri (now Stova) offers native integration with Adobe Marketing Cloud, Adobe’s suite of marketing analytics and automation tools. This native integration allows seamless data synchronization between your event marketing campaigns and Adobe’s tools.
  • Marketo: Aventri (now Stova) offers integration with Marketo, another popular marketing automation platform. You can more accurately sync attendee-related metrics and automate your marketing campaigns.
  • Oracle Eloqua: another marketing automation platform by Oracle, allowing you to easily and seamlessly integrate your event marketing campaigns with your event’s strategy as a whole.
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365: Aventri (now Stova) offers integration with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft’s CRM platform. This allows you to easily track lead generation and sales conversion from your events.

Despite the narrower overall integration, there are also integrations exclusive to Cvent:

  • Concur: Cvent offers native integration with Concur (which is not supported by Aventri (now Stova)). Concur is a travel and expense management system, and this integration streamlines the process of managing event-related travel expenses.
  • LinkedIn: Cvent offers native integration with the social media platform LinkedIn, allowing Cvent to leverage LinkedIn’s user base for targeted marketing, personalized outreach, and more effective event promotion (especially for events targeting professionals.)
  • ON24: ON24 is a virtual event platform specializing in webinars. This native integration allows more streamlined registration and attendee management processes for webinars, as well as real-time data analytics and attendee engagement tracking during the webinars.

It’s worth noting that the integrations offered by both platforms can change over time. You can check both Aventri (now Stova) and Cvent’s respective websites to verify the current integration offered by both event management solutions or consult their documentation.

Aventri vs. Cvent: Pricing Comparison

Both Aventri (Stova) and Cvent do not disclose fixed pricing plans on their websites and don’t offer tiered pricing options. So, you have to contact their respective sales teams or request a demo, where you’ll get a custom quote based on the number/size of events you are looking to host, the number of attendees, and the extra features you need.

For instance, they may charge more if you request features like multilingual support for specific languages or advanced analytics.

Both Cvent and Aventri (Stova) are considered relatively expensive event management solutions, so they are more suited for medium to large-sized businesses or large-scale event planners.

Aventri vs. Cvent: Customer Support

Cvent received a 4.3 / 5 rating from 1,725 reviews on the software comparison and review site G2. Cvent customers generally praise the platform’s ease of use and wide range of features.

Aventri recently rebranded into Stova (merged with MeetingPlay), so it has fewer user reviews. At the moment, it has an average rating of 4.2 out of 166 reviews. However, Stova’s customers generally say that Stova is easy to use and delivers on all promises, and many users especially praised Stova’s versatility in managing virtual events.

The 4.3 and 4.2 scores are both pretty good, and Cvent and Stova (previously Aventri) are ahead of many other event management software solutions available in the market at the moment.

Should I Consider a Different Solution?

As we have seen, although both Cvent and Aventri (now called Stova) are powerful event management platforms, they are both not perfect, and they are certainly not the most affordable solutions available in the market.

When comparing the two:

Aventri, now called Stova, is more feature-rich (although Cvent also offers a robust set of features), with a strong focus on analytics and reporting.  However, this wide range of features also caused Stova to be more complex to use and has a relatively steeper learning curve when compared to Cvent.

It’s worth noting, however, that Aventri offers a more modern interface with an intuitive, drag-and-drop approach, offsetting some of the complexities of the platform.

Cvent, on the other hand, has a more traditional interface but overall is simpler to use with more focused features and integrations.

Ultimately, when choosing between the two, you should first define what your event requirements are. Only then you can start to compare the two platforms and choose the right one according to your unique needs and budget.

However, if both Aventri and Cvent don’t fit your specific needs and budget, there is yet one more option you should consider.

Eventtia is another popular event management software offering somewhat of a hybrid of Hopin and Cvent. Eventtia offers a robust set of features comparable to both Cvent and Aventri (or Stova), with a modern and intuitive user interface, making it an easy-to-use event management platform.

Eventtia also offers excellent customer support, comparable to what’s offered by Cvent, while having a more affordable and transparent price than both solutions.

Eventtia also offers custom event planning templates and tutorials to help you plan and execute your next successful events.
